Welcome to my blog!
Here one can find
the latest on GenSan's ICT/BPO Industry promotion and development. Hope you
find this useful...
It's amazing to
know that however young, the ICT/BPO Industry of General Santos City has a
handful of existing/emerging/startup ict/bpo companies in existence. The
pioneers include: for voice, there's the Legacy Travel International - the
first homegrown call center in the city with 15 seats to date, and growing; and
for the non-voice, we have Skeptron - into animation and web development, and
Transcode in medical transcription. Of late, came Virtuous Global Solutions - animation
and engineering design, Rapid Signal Electronics (RSE) - a
robotics/microcontroller embedded systems startup company, and Local Focus
Teleservices, into telemarketing and SEO. And others.
Five months back,
the Mabuhay IT Park (MITP) of Mabuhay Technopark Corporation (www.gensantoscityMabuhayITpark.blogspot.com)
finally held its Dedication Ceremony last August 18, 2010. It is the
First-PEZA Registered IT Park in General Santos City, and in Region XII. It is
a 2.8 hectare land envisioned to be the shining landmark for ICT/BPO investments
in the region, housing the first technology incubation facility, the e.nable one TBI (technology business incubator) -
a member of the Asia Pacific Incubation Network (APIN), with the vision and
mission of creating a working and quality ecosystem where emerging/startup
companies on ict/bpo can grow to commercial enterprises. Rapid Signal Electronics
(RSE) is its first incubatee, operated and managed by Engr. Franz Duran. Said
opening of MITP was held back to back with an Innovation Forum in
collaboration with Ayala TBI Network, with resource speakers mainly from Ayala
TBI Network , Department Of Science and Technology-Technology Resource Center
(DOST-TRC), Congressional Commission on Science and Technology (COMSTE), and
Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP).
The fourth NICP
(National ICT Confederation of the Philippines) Summit was held last November
3-5, facilitated by the ICT Solutions Association, Inc., GenSan Chapter
(ISA-12) participated in by majority of ICT Councils nationwide with over 150
participants.
In response to the
need to better equip gensan talents for the ict/bpo industry, the City Mayor's
Office - Computer Literacy Program, better known as the SHEEP Program,
strengthened its programme by conducting IT Trainings for DepEd ICT
Coordinators, Principals, teachers, secondary public school students, Alternative
Learning System (ALS) students, and Out of School Youth (OSY) on American
Accent, Animation, AutoCad, Web-Blogging, Videography, Accounting, Speed
Typing, and others. Modules included trainings for Senior Citizens - a
very strong indication that the local government has 100% support for the
ict/bpo industry of the city - preparing talents to be market-ready.
More heart-warming
to know is the fact that SHEEP just recently moved in to the largest of e.nable one TBI 's space for lease inside the
Mabuhay IT Park. Again, a manifestation that General Santos City has a very
strong public and private partnership - a critical ingredient in pushing
forward its goals and aspirations for its young yet growing ICT/BPO Industry.
With these, the
promise of GenSan being the next ICT Hub in the country is very glaring
...
